From the Marine Corps to the Navy dental corps to the podium at implant conferences around the world, Dr. Hogan’s career has one through-line: mastering the discipline completely, then teaching it to others. The timeline below spans more than 30 years, from enlistment in 1992 to the implant institute he directs today.

1992–1996
United States Marine Corps
Enlisted service as a Corporal — 4 years in uniform where discipline and precision became habits, not aspirations.
2003
DDS, University of Michigan
Doctor of Dental Surgery, with clinical accolades and awards in periodontics during his time at Michigan.
2003–2006
U.S. Navy Dental Officer
Served 3 years as a Navy Lieutenant, completing a hospital residency at Portsmouth Naval Hospital in 2004.
2007
MAXI Course, Medical College of Georgia
Graduated the AAID’s intensive year-long implant training — the start of a career devoted to implantology.
2013
Rarefied credentials
Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology and Honored Fellow of the AAID — a combination held, as of 2013, by fewer than 500 dentists worldwide.
